Dutch Trumpet Daffodil

The Dutch Trumpet Daffodil is a timeless spring classic — bold, bright, and unmistakably cheerful. Featuring the iconic large, flared trumpet bloom on strong upright stems, these daffodils perform beautifully in mass plantings, mixed perennial borders, and as long-lasting cut flowers.

Three keys to a thriving daffodil planting:

1. Commit to full sun. Choose a location with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily — including after surrounding trees have leafed out in spring. Sunlight after bloom is what refuels the bulb for the following season's flowers.
2. Drainage is non-negotiable. Bulbs sitting in wet, poorly drained soil will rot before they ever bloom. Plant in loose, well-drained ground and avoid any low spots where water tends to collect after rain.
3. Let the foliage run its course. After flowers have faded, resist cutting back the leaves for at least 8 weeks — or until they've yellowed naturally. Intact foliage is essential for rebuilding bulb energy. Avoid braiding or bundling the leaves as well.
